FAQ's

Outdoor Furniture

Why are your products any different from others I have seen in shops?

They may look similar however we use full round PE rattan in either 3mm or chunky 5mm diameter wicker. Most retail stores use very thin flat rattan or half round rattan which is far less durable and much cheaper to manufacture. In addition, all of our furniture frames are welded not screwed or bolted together. This ensures our products are much stronger and you’re receiving real value for your purchase. Many of the products you will see in retail stores are “flat packed” and then assembled on delivery. This enables these stores to save significantly on freight costs without passing those savings onto their customers.

We invite you to compare our quality to the rest. We have never disappointed.

Why are your prices so much lower than retail shops?

When you purchase with Ansan Outdoor you know you’re dealing directly with the importer / manufacturer. We work directly with our factories to cut out the “middle man” guaranteeing you are not paying for all of the extra costs associated with national retailers and their showrooms and marketing. We believe this is the future of all retail in this digital age.

    What about warranty?

To remain in business you need to stand behind the products you sell. We don’t just want our customers to be happy – we want them to be ecstatic! We understand that you want to be sure you’re making a wise decision when you purchase your outdoor products and that you’re receiving real value for your decision.

In addition to the statutory warranties that exist under Australian consumer legislation we provide a 5 year manufacturer's warranty on all frames and wicker.

    What is PE Wicker Rattan?

The term “wicker” refers to the process by which a fibrous material is woven into rigid usable shapes. There are many types of materials used in the fabrication of wicker, however they can be broken down into two main types - natural and synthetic.  Natural refers to wicker that has been used throughout the centuries and is mostly comprised of reeds, rattan, bamboo or any type of fibrous plant that can be woven into a useable piece.

As a result of technology advances in recent years traditional natural materials have gradually given way to Polyethylene (PE Rattan)  for both environmental and longevity reasons. PE wicker furniture is made from hard Polyethylene strands that are stretched tightly across powder coated aluminium or steel frames. .

Polyethylene is a synthetic material used in almost everything we use in our day to day life.  It is one of the most common plastics used in bags, containers, bottles and jars, as well as packaging and plastic films. PE (the abbreviation for Polyethylene) has a high melting point of between 120C and 130C as well as very high chemical resistance.  These characteristics make it the perfect product for durable wicker outdoor furniture applications.

Polyethylene, being non-reactant to water and temperature is the ideal material for creating virtually maintenance free yet durable wicker furniture.  Natural wickers tend to soak up water causing them to swell and contract as weather conditions change. Over time this results in cracking, peeling, discoloration and ultimately breakages and failure in furniture.

    Fire Pits

How do I get a shipping estimate?

We deliver to all metro Melbourne locations. We also deliver to Adelaide and the east coast of Australia. To find out how much delivery would cost to your door, just send us an email with your postcode and we will get straight back to you. We have very reliable couriers who specialise in furniture deliveries to give you peace of mind

Can I place my fire pit on patio decking or tiles?

Yes you can, however we advise you to place it on a heat resistant tile and raise it on breeze-blocks between your wooden decking or non-heat resistant tiles and your fire pit.

Whilst our fire pits come with bases or stands, these also give off residual heat that may damage sensitive materials such as wooden decks and non-heat resistant tiles, however the taller the base the less heat will transfer.

All our fire pits should be placed on a stable, level and heat resistant surface.

You can also place your fire pit in your back yard or outdoor area on a heat resistant natural surface such as gravel, crushed rock or sand.

Placing your fire pit on grass will obviously burn your lawn, so don’t make that mistake!

Why do I need to assist with off-loading on arrival, is there an alternative?

OH&S legislation requires a tail lift for delivery of items weighing more than 25kg by a single driver.

Our larger fire pits are approximately 65kg and as such require two people to off load manually.

We do not want to pass the hefty $75 tail lift cost on to our customers, and so most customers are happy to assist the courier with off-loading the fire pit when it arrives. If you’re not able to assist with unloading then a tail lift delivery can be arranged.

How do I care for my fire pit?

All of our fire pits are constructed from either low maintenance ¼ inch (6mm) stainless steel or carbon steel. They are incredibly durable and made to last!

The carbon steel rusted fire pits have no seam-welds or joins in their construction. As a result of their design and manufacture they are solid in structure which ensures no weak spots are created through the natural rusting process.

Our solid steel fire pits are care and maintenance free. Even rainwater will not damage these robust fire pits. As a result they can be can be left outdoors all year round.

Can we see the fire pits before buying?

Yes you can. We are very happy for customers to view any of our products before purchasing. To arrange a suitable time you can either send us an email or just call on 0418 397 136. We are available weekdays, weekends or even evenings.
